Grand Manan        Grand Manan is a small island of fishing villages a few miles off the coast of New Brunswick near the Maine , USA border. You arrive in your car on the ferry and immediately sense that this is a special place.        The fishing villages are quaint. The lupins along the roadside in June are extraordinary. The seafood is fabulous. The scenery is varied and gorgeous, the air unpolluted. The people are unpretentious and friendly.        The island has a quiet peace about it which , in this hectic world of bombs and hurricanes , is like a little miracle.        It’s a decade since I photographed these images but it seems like yesterday. It’s a timeless place. High tide and low tide. Fair and foul weather. Once visited , it becomes part of your ‘Soul’.
